XL Dog Crate Brooder

I used a 48" crate for my last batch of chicks and it worked well. I elevated mine so I didn't have to bend over to get into the crate. That made cleaning and just watching and interacting with the chicks much easier. I also wrapped it with plastic chicken fencing just to make sure no one tried to exit through the crate bars. It wasn't long until I attached an x-pen to it as well. Have fun with your babies!

Welcome! I would add mesh or hardware cloth around it to prevent chicks from escaping through the bars. Bantam chicks would have no trouble getting out! If you have dogs or cats, they will be too interested, and more security might be necessary.
Chicks are fun!

All 15 arrived safe, & healthy within 24hrs of hatching. Not a single one even had pasty butt!
