I was thinking of using duct tape.

Hey, yeah, use duct tape, and then when you take it off, you could have pre-plucked birds...LOL

So.....I finally got around to weighing some of my birds and i'm not terribly impressed. I picked out a few of the brown coturnix males and the biggest i got was 11.4 ounces full grown. One of my A&Ms weighed in at 11.6, but she's pretty big compared to the others. Its kinda depressing, I woulda sworn I had several that were over a pound.....probably the way they "flex" their feathers

I was bummed as well I am gonna give them another week or 2 then try again. Ahhh the elicit 1 lb quail...

I'm affraid to get out a scale on mine that were suppose to be SO BIG!

I actually bought a scale and weighed my birds because of this thread, LOL!

I have one promising A&M at 11.7 at 9 weeks, where my jumbos are 10.5-11.9

Fitzy You're Breeding And Raising The Wrong Speces---3 Words "butler Bob White" Granted They Cost Much More Than Coturnix In Means Of Time And Effort, But They Do Produce Bantam Chicken Sized Bob White Quail. I Have 12wk Old Butlers That Dwarf My 3 Yr Old Georgia Giants. Heck They Dwarf My Seramas By The Time They're 6 Mos Old.

They Are The Sumo Wrestlers Of The Quail World. Also Charlie At Wilds Of Pa Has An Interesting Prospect Bird He's Calling A Slate-belt Monster Bob White, A Result Of His Recent Mad Scientist Stent With The Bob White Speces....

So Pick Either Quantity Or Quality And Move In That Direction......... Either Way, Good Luck And Enjoy Them--- They're All Way Cool In Their Own Way!
