OK- the 2 hermits have been freed of their baggage, and look and act OK. Yolks fully absorbed. The third one to pip yesterday, is perfectly formed and developed. The membrane was quite leathery and white, and the chick is dead.

As it stands now-

2 hatched, and freed of their "baggage"
1 more, hatched later, again freed from the membrane
1 fully developed, dead
3 unpipped, I will let them continue, but none are moving or cheeping

BUT!!! I do have a splash, and what appears to be two blues!

Bec, we have got to figure this out. What are the hatch rates on the others, what am I doing wrong?

I PM'd Sunnychic a few hours ago, but haven't heard back yet. I know her babies are due around now too.

I am not sure what is going on. You, Sunnychic and Buckeyelady are the only ones that have gotten shipped eggs.

I am thinking that they are just too fragile of a breed to ship and hatch. I have all 8 of mine ready to pop any day now, Karen71 had a 100% hatch and Finally Chickens had 3 out of 6. These were all local pick ups and had much better outcomes!

I am not so sure it is you that is doing something wrong, I think it is the combination of them being fragile to begin with and then them being shipped.

I am NOT giving up, but I think shipping during the summer would be a disaster. Put me on top of the fall list, please?
