Hamburgs are great little birds....I have 2 myself. They are quite active and really good flyers. If you plan on free ranging, and I'm thinking you will with all that land, be sure to give them 2-3 weeks in their coop and run so that they know where home is. I've heard of people trying to get them out of trees at night. They are great layers of small/med white eggs but will take the winter off from laying. Mine have just started up again in the last week and a half or so. They had stopped in November I think.

LOL, i'd have the plans folded up in my pocket, then take it out abd show some one and say: "I have master plans to rule the world!" then unfold it and show them the plans "I'd fill it up with chickens, send them off to infilltrate a millitary base, they'd steal all the weapons and take over the world." i'm so cool in school.

Congrats on that much land! It is like winning the lotto if we got that much.I don't have anything special, but my red sex link hens have been laying all winter. They are locked in a non-insulated metal shed with dinky windows I cut into the wall. They have held up very well in the cold with little light.I was going to get some buffs, but will get more red sex link given their production/health this past winter.
