Yay flooding

You could sandbag the run, dig a hole and put a cheap sump pump in it to pump out any water that leaks in.

Not a bad idea if this turns out to be a continuous problem. I see people using pumps around here to deal with spring floods on lots that don't drain as well as mine.

Round 2, much worse than the first. We're slated for rain until Saturday.

Coop is still dry, chickens had to stay locked inside for their own safety as the current is quite strong.

At this point I'm trying to figure out what kind of damage this is doing to my house foundation as the water is lapping at the foundation, plus my septic system is getting flooded too and I'm trying to find someone to come out and assess it.

I bet Arizona is sounding pretty good to you about now. Oh, wait. They get flash floods there that can kill you.

Every place has something that can kill you/ruin your house/make things miserable. If it's not floods, it's a drought. Or earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes. Living on a hill sounds good right now until I think about landslides. Just can't win!

Oh, you are so right! Remember Banda Aceh tsunami? https://www.history.com/news/deadliest-tsunami-2004-indian-ocean That was a paradise until it a giant wave crashed onto the place. Talk about what water can do.

Keep this up and those chickens of yours will evolve webbed feet and flippers.

Your pictures absolutely break my heart. And I know you are tremendously torn, wanting to take care of your chickens, but needing to take care of your home.

Regardless of what you wind up doing later, it would be very beneficial to drive a couple of tposts, cane poles, etc. along the river’s edge of your yard and place a mark showing the actual level of the water at that point.

I'm sure there are a few things that can be done to stop the overflow of the river onto your land, but I’m certain all of them will not be cheap. Less permanent, but more cost effective would be the redirection of the overflow. And even better still is finding another home of your dreams to move you and your chickens to.
