yay!!! I just got my EE hatching eggs from Carole at fowlvisions!

Day 3 for me, and I want to candle them SO BAD. I'm trying to sit on my hands and wait a bit.

I might have to add water tomorrow, and if I do, I just might sneak a peek while I'm in there.

ETA: That's awesome that it appears all your eggs from fowlvisions are viable.

Okay, I was bad. Curiosity got the better of me. I took a few out and candled last night. (Day 3 last night)

And I saw.............................................nothing. All I saw was a dark spot, which I assume is the yolk.

Serves me right for trying to peek on them.

Although I did find a clever way to add water without opening the bator. I got a bendy straw and put it in one of the vent holes. Then those medicine syringes fit perfectly into the bendy straw. Works great!

Now I have to sit on my hands again.

I think the dark spot does mean they're doing it. I think their supposed to shine clear if their not fertile. At least thats what some of the pics I've seen say. Look at some candling pictures and see if they look the same or not. You could also candle a store bought egg and see if they're different cause obviously they are probably infertile.

Day three and four are a little early to be candling so if you see nothing that is ok. Wait until day seven or eight and take another peek just because you see nothing now does not mean you should single them out as bad or duds yet.

When compared to an infertile egg, I can see a difference. One egg had a spot in the dark area and when I moved the egg around, the spot moved too.

I checked today, and I had a weeping cracked egg, so I sealed it with wax and will check it again later.

It's really hard to see in the Welsummer eggs.

I swear I'm not going to bug the eggs again until Monday.

I was bad and candled again. I suspect a couple of them may have quit on me but I'm gonna give it a day or two to be sure.

I was really trying to hold off til day 10. It's hard to be patient.

I'm not having any better luck sitting on my hands. I'm determined to leave them be until Sunday night.

The one that was weeping I ended up tossing. So I'm down to 14 now.

How's yours going?

You're so close! I have 15 more days to wait.

I'm going to start getting my brooder all set up, so that will keep me busy. Then I have to make a stand to hold my heat lamp.
