Yay!!!!! We got out first egg! But who did it?

Colby Tanner (15yrs old) told me of an easy way to find out who is laying. Turn the hen butt side up and drop 3-4 drops of Green, Blue, or any dark colored liquid food color into the vent and massage in. It will streak the egg for a few days.

That's a neat idea. Now that it is getting close to halloween I bet different colored hair spray would work too. We now think we have three layers. On Sunday and Monday we had a light brown and a darker brown egg and then today we had two eggs of similar color. Doing the math and it must be three. Unless.... Can a single hen lay different color eggs or are they consistantly the same hue?

Egg color does change a little at least with one of my pullets.
