Yellow buildup and hard swollen sinuses?

My little rooster had a type of cold. I got antibiotic medication and the whole flock was on it for a couple weeks. The rooster now, instead of having runny snot, has rock hard sinuses and has this yellow buildup in his mouth. What is this and what meds can anyone recommend? He’s acting mostly normal, maybe a little bit off.

It sounds like your little guy has fowl pox. It causes lesion in the mouth
He doesn’t have any lesions though, nor does anyone else in the flock? If it was fowl pox it wouldn’t be a new thing and I’d expect symptoms from the rest of the flock by now... I’ll look into the treatment though. Any other suggestions?

It could also be Canker. Can you take him to a vet?
I can and did before to get a prescription for his antibiotic. They aren’t proficient in bird care, though - but they’re the only vet that will see a chicken that’s within a couple hours. I’ll call tomorrow and see if they can do a swab to determine definitively what it is.

Keep in mind that many types of infections can cause yellow caseous plaques inside the beak, sinuses, throat, and airway. Bacterial respiratory infections such as mycoplasma or coryza, viruses, such as ILT and wet fowl pox, and protozoan infection, such as canker, can all cause them.

Canker and wet fowl pox are more common in chickens to cause the yellow plaques, but since your rooster had a respiratory infection involving his sinuses, I would wonder about coryza. Both coryza and canker are said to cause a very bad odor (I have never seen those in my flock, so not familiar with it.)

Can you see pus or plaques in the roof of his beak? Does he stink?
