In the Brooder
I just recently found out my chickens have lice. I took them all out one by one to give them a little DE rub and noticed some of them have a yellowy "wax" substance in the feathers around their face. Not a lot. Just some. They don't seem to have ear mites. Their noses don't seem to be runny and they seem pretty happy running around and pecking at stuff and whatnot. I thought I heard a mild wheezing or coughing sound but not entirely sure if my paranoid mind is just making it up. The substance rubs off. Not sure if it will come back. Any idea on what this is? And if so, how should I treat it?
If I could compare the substance to anything I would say it resembles pollen on a bees leg. Just more waxy.
