So I have had chickens before, now I am getting laying hens with my mother and she is new to this. I have lots of questions. We have 7 horses 4 cats 4 dogs some chickens soon maybe beginning of April and maybe a cow . I will be very open minded because like every one have my own opinions about things. But I am open minded. I am a farmer as you can tell my all my animals. So i hope to get to know you soon and talk your ears off with all my questions more like read you to death see you all soon.

Sounds like you have a nice farm! I used to keep horses here as well, but decided at my age, poultry is a bit more my speed.

Hi and welcome

I'm a relative newbie to the forum and like you getting back into keeping chickens although I have already started my flock a few month ago.
I have 5 horses and 3 cats and 7 colonies of bees and have always wanted a cow but have to make do with my brood mare who will not stop producing milk even though it's 5 years since her last foal! Horses milk not as much to my taste as cows milk though! Actually I don't milk her as I'm trying to get her to dry up because she is prone to mastitis. Each year I think I have cracked it and then as soon as the spring grass starts to come through, she starts producing again.
Anyway, enough of horses when we are here to discuss hens, just wanted to say hello and good luck with your new flock.
