YES!! Girls are here and have moved into new coop.....FINALLY (pixs)

Congrats on the new flock!!! They are pretty. They will get the hang of the roosting soon, one starts andthe rest will follow. You can help them along by palcing them on the roost after dark but it may not be necessary. It's fun to watch them adjsut and take over their new home...Now wait for the excitement of eggs!!!!!!

I tried that last night. When I entered the coop I startled them all and it was chaos. They all seemed crashed out but apparantly they weren't. Probably took the poor girls 30 minutes to calm down. My son went down to water them this morning about 7:15 and said there were two on the roost preening.
i'll give them their space for a few days to calm down and acclamate to the new house, maybe they will figure it out on their own by then

I just checked out your great pics of the coop you build - wow that coop is nice. And your right about this NC weather, it's been a snowy/rainy winter and it's not over yet.

Your 'girls' look great too, thanks for sharing the pics and can't wait to see more as they settle into their new home. Seeing we are in the same area of NC maybe you can give me some advice on places nearby that sell chicks - did you find them local, craigslist, online hatchery?
