Yeah, I had "meat rabbits"..... not very many made it to the table..... it was a grand experiment in my ability to actively kill animals (I suck at it). Because they were meat rabbits they also were not terribly controlled in their reproduction... so 4 rabbits quickly turned into 50. Most of them found good homes inside being cuddled.
That's quite a bit haha
Well I've already raised quail for eggs and meat before. But yes, rabbits do look quite cute haha. Fingers crossed I end up with a meanie for the first example 😅

I've done two so far, and need to do four more. It's not easy, but I give them respect and make it as quick and stress free as possible. They are cuddled just before 'the act', and talked to soothingly.

Chickens are the easiest, for me. Ducks are a bit harder as I love them so much, but the bunnies were the hardest.

I try not to get attached to the ones I know will be destined for the freezer.

Yeah that's the plan is to keep them calm and loved beforehand :)
I've certainly offed a couple chickens before (cockerels) but they do have a soft spot in my heart so it's hard to do
I had ducks for awhile, but they weren't cuddly or very personable - so those I'd have the least issue with (but I imagine if they were friendly and cuddly I'd have a hard time hah)
Yes, I'll have to make sure they don't get names or anything (other than dinner lol)

I had one of those, but I had to have my brother-in-law kill it. As a "big bad hunter" he thought he had it in him... but the rabbit screamed "no no no" and he vowed never to kill another one of my rabbits. It's one thing to shoot one at a distance, another thing entirely to do it by hand. Some people have it in them. I am the first to admit, I don't.

Sounds like too much work to me. 🤷‍♀️ I'm more of a don't want to look at it more than 2 or 3 times a week type of person. That's probably the main reason why the chickens are so ideal for me.
🤨

Guess what I made for you this morning?

Thanks, that is good to know......but stop tempting me to get another pet! haha I probably will get a cat next...who knows.
Cats have litter boxes too 😉😂 I hate litter boxes lol after Luna goes I won’t get another cat I don’t think. I hate litter boxes and don’t want an outdoor cat. I’m more of a dog person anyway.

Ah yeah I bet that wouldn't be fun to experience. I have heard some rabbits will scream around dispatch.
I was luckily warned ahead of time but uhhh some of the quail (hidden for gross) after you cut off their heads and while you were fiddling with their bodies sometimes their chest cavity/neck would make a bit of sound
