Yet again...HORROR in the hen house. :(( **FINAL UPDATE!!!**

Tonight's update:

I took pictures of Feather.

Still not wanting to stand unless bothered.

Eats and drinks heartily.

Still have our fingers crossed...thanks for all the well wishes and support.

I'll post pics tomorrow and update the post to let you all know they're here.

edited to say it must have been really early, I was really sleepy and I really must have put that funny post sign on the really wrong thread, so sorry, no disrespect intended at all! Darlene

Feather is still with us.

Same condition as I posted last night. Doesn't seem to be any "better" except more alert, and definitely not worse.

Here's the pictures...some can be graphic, so I apologize to the weak of stomachs...best to not scroll down if you are.

Feather on my bed, resting...

The dogs just need medication-I would prescribe 120 grains of lead administered at a high velocity!

I'm sorry for the attack; you must be listening all the time, waiting for the dogs to come back. I hope your hen heals quickly.

Just wondering if these dogs are licensed? In my city, all dogs must be licensed.... you might also check with your near neighbors to see if these dogs have attacked any other pets. Have they threatened other people walking nearby?
Ask the police for a copy of the report of the attack. It would be nice if your neighbor could describe her attempt to get them away from the hens, and the dogs' response to her into the report.
I'd also keep a notation on your calendar of what happened when, including the dachshunds attack, so that if need be, you can press a little harder for the city to do something.

I really am sorry about this.

I'm sorry! I LOVE my pits to death, but the second they growl or show ANY aggression to ANYTHING they're gone! I live JUST outside city limits, and my mother in law lived here before us. Let's just say, when i called animal control because of a vicious dog, they told me to call the sheriff. Sheriff said "Shoot it, there's nothing we can do for you" I agree with NY on this one..."The dogs just need medication-I would prescribe 120 grains of lead administered at a high velocity!"
