YO GEORGIANS! :)

Anyone have issues with rats! I'm not talking field mice.... These things are rats! I'd say the size of 2 week old chicks!

I was sitting at the dinner table the other night, looked outside and saw these rats coming from some brush by the side of our fence. They must be living in the brush because there is open field/yard on either side. I don't want these things near my chickens when the girls get out there. The brush is probably 200 feet from where the coop will be.

Suggestions on getting rid of them. Obviously clearing the brush will help but I want them off my property and dead. :)

Just clean the brush away and make sure they don't have access to food.

No reason to kill them, they are outside and not bothering your chickens, plus poison could kill other animals too. Rats are very smart little animals that live in tight social circles, they don't spread the same deadly diseases that certain types of mice do.

X3 on the coffee! I just can't do it! My husband rarely drinks it too. My son though loved drinking expresso with my brother in law when we lived in NJ.

Speaking of my son.. He turns 5 today!!! I swear he was just a baby yesterday!

he was my impatient child. Born at 37 weeks on the bathroom floor at home! Haha he made my husband an honorary Dr. that day!

No update on the coop. It's just sitting there with the floor done! My husband will be off the next two days, so hopefully we will get something done. We have yard work on Thursday(mowing, moving branches, clearing brush) and a birthday party for my 2 year old daughter and son on Saturday.
How exciting to have your baby on the bathroom floor! Now THAT is something to crow about! Makes for a great story! Glad it all turned out ok!

You need CATS! :)

Another great news to tell!  A friend just called and wants 6 dozen eggs!  Yea!  I get $3.50 a dozen or $5 for 18!  Of course he went for the "Well, I'll take 4 of the 18 ones!"  Hahaha.....I know, I know, but it does push them to buy more!  I am also giving him 6 duck eggs for free.  (They are getting too old to sell.....just 2 weeks old, but, still, I don't like to sell them that old)  And, I just don't use that many eggs!  And maybe they will get hooked on duck eggs!

So our renters left and I am cleaning the house when I looked out the window and what do I see?  SNOW FURRIES!  Really?!?

Really? Next time warn a brother with..."I got good news and I got bad news.". Snow indeed. That's just hateful.

cats solve the rats/mice/voles problem for me. In fact they "retired" one this morning. :D
