YO GEORGIANS! :)

I'm in the savannah area, so a little too far to drive, but who knows. I might just be that desperate in a couple more weeks.

Yeah, that would be a pretty good haul.

Catching up this morning trying not to lose a mouthful of tea or cake with all of your comments. Feeling low, but I now need to build another coop on my roof for the other 14 chicks. Will see if I can find wood pallets. It will be hard work up 3 stories but I have no choice. I dont have any other place free from kids or rats or rouge animals. Plus 1 floor up is easier than 3 down daily. So until I can work out my life I guess I got Rooftop chickens. Will photograph my rooftop for some suggestions. Only thing is pigeon, hawk and owls up there. So covered is good. I can buy some more chicken wire. Just need wood or metal. To make supports. :)

The last of my trio of nasty EE roos left the farm last weekend; I got so caught up in ducky and bunny business I missed reporting his departure. That, and I was too mad at him  He had mellowed out a lot after his brothers left for the auction and he got an AM hen and a Guinea hen for company. He was very gentlemanly with them and not a feather was ruffled all around. Until I tried to let them out to forage together. He immediately and relentlessly attacked me no matter how far I backed away; bruising the snot out of my legs. While I was on vacation, he wounded abmaddox (who accurately reported that all three of my roosters are homicidal maniacs.). I can let the other two out to forage with their girls without an outright attack; they only react if someone gets too close to them or gets closely between them and the hens, and even then only your shoes are in danger of pecking. ok, and they kind of flip out if you take their feed or water out of the pen. That's more aggression than I'd like, but it's at least manageable. Not so the nasty EE. He continuosly is out for blood if he can reach a human. I tried to give him one last shot before I caged him up for the auction. I picked him up with his wings under my arms and his feet secured gently but firmly in my other hand. He very promptly pulled a move a snapping turtle would be proud of: he stretched his neck way out and bit my lip enough to make a decent slice from the inside of my lip to the outside and a trailing scratch a couple of inches long. Hopefully the scar fades quickly, and his new owners wear football gear when handling him.

My gosh!! You're super nice letting them live. I'd have wrung all three! I hope your wounds heal quickly.

I usually get a pretty even mix of males and females, but there is always a chance you could get a lot more of one than the other.  I also have chicks available, and there is no guesswork that way.

Soo what do you charge for your chicks/eggs? I've got my SECOND shot at CL in my bator right now. We'll see how it goes. :/

If y'all don't hear from me after this post, just assume GAM finally collected on my life insurance by feeding me bad chicken..... What an ironic way to die. For those of you with whom she does not share the money, please be sure Sheriff Gulledge is made aware. Thanks bunches.

:lau Ironic, indeed.

For anyone interested and close enough, I just saw on fb the Elrod's in Dallas has EE! I was JUST wondering the other day how come I never hear of them getting chicks in.. don't know if I'm more impressed that they did, or that they're not calling them AM/Araucana! :p

Since I am quite certain that many of you are on the edge of your seats, (clearly too worried to post) wondering if I lived through the night, well, I did. But barely. And as I lie here in bed in a weakened state, I have the unshakeable fear that GAM is going to be upset that her "accidental death" plan did not work so she will take drastic measures to finish the job. I'm not feeling good about the large butcher knife that was on my pillow this morning. But go about your days normally. Don't worry about me. :(

Oh dear! I had a very bad roo like that. He was put in freezer camp.

Hope that lip heals!!! :hugs
