YO GEORGIANS! :)

i made a bad newbie mistake... one of my hens has a small cut on her leg. well i treated it with vetericyn and then wrapped it, but she pulled off the vet-rap and i cant find it anywhere, i think she ATE IT!!!! i dont think it will digest well, its like a stretchy wrap material and it was tan and slim, could kind of look like a worm if crumpled enough.

NOT GOOD!
you think she will pass it or it will cause a block and kill her?

so worried.

Try this link. I know that it is not vet-rap but chickens eat a lot of silly things. I hope your chick is well! https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/855903/chicken-eating-plastic-will-they-live

You are welcome. :) wish I had the magic answer! Just watch her behavior. You will notice when something isn't right. My guy laughed at me when I studied chicken poop pics. I told him that I needed to know when my girls were sick! lol best wishes for your girl!

Looks like our Black Australorp hen is broody. I removed all the eggs after the hens laid them today but she still wanted to sit in the nest boxes. I blocked the nest boxes for the night and put her on the roost so I hope she stays there. It is supposed to be extra hot this week so not a good time for her to go broody. I have no idea what to do.

One of our black copper maran hens went broody last week. We just gave her eggs and let her have at it. Your right though, this week is going to be wicked hot and I hope to put a container of Ice water not too far from her in hopes she at least drinks a bit every day for the next week or so. I hope the temp comes back down again fast. I hate the heat, I really really do!

We don't have any fertile eggs. I guess I will wait and see what tomorrow brings.

I only have one Maran laying right now, about an egg a day from her. We have hatched with a 90% fertility rate so far! :) We are about to take her and her roo and put them in the shed mix as we just pulled the roo from the flock (attached the teenager) and he is getting re-homed. This will leave the Broody Maran with her eggs in the small coop to herself.
