Hey North Georgia people, how's the Fall foliage looking? I'm headed up to Asheville for a sheep and wool fair Saturday morning. I'll be winding through the mountains to get there, picking up hatching eggs and taking in the scenery on my way. :)

It is really beautiful, but not full peak yet,(IMO). Don't forget the Moonshine Festival in Dawsonville is this weekend!
 
Need advice:

Tomorrow night I will be candling the 10 eggs under my broody speckled Sussex. It will be day 10 tomorrow. I have her in a 'maternity ward' I built. Should I bring all the eggs inside(stick golf balls under her for 10 minutes), candle them then bring them back out and put them back under her? Or should I just candle them right there outside in the dark?

I want to add the 'nest' is in a big Rubbermaid container inside a small run I built . Could I bring her, the eggs and the Rubbermaid nest inside to candle? Or would that stress her too much?

I would candle outside, putting the eggs in a temporary container with a towel maybe, candling one at a time and putting them back under her. Less traveling = less risk of dropping/breaking eggs. Just make sure not to candle too close to her, I had a broody snap at my hand while I was candling right next to her and I dropped the egg...
 
How is it people charge maximum money for mutts these days? Give a mix breed a cute name and you can charge crazy money? Labradoodles? Chiweenies? And whatever other "designer" dogs there are out there. They are MUTTS. They should be free to a good home like any other mutt. Same goes for horses. I saw an ad for a Fresian/Quarter Horse cross and they want nearly 10,000 bucks for it. It's only 2 years old so it hasn't proven itself at anything. WTH?

It was the good kind of cry.

Yesterday was our anniversary and he was a very sweet boy. 14th is animals (traditional) and gold (modern) ... he gave me both. Ok, I guess he can stick around for a while.

I assume you were talking to me. We only do miniatures right now. But I'm not currently in the market as I have to prioritize my money spending. But I enjoy looking and seeing what's out there and just happened to notice this one for 9800 bucks. Pretty horse so I opened the ad and noticed it's a mutt. Just had to rant a moment. But I appreciate the heads up on the Summerville place. We're only about an hour or so from there maybe a little less. I'm also a member of GERL and we're going to volunteer at their event in Athens in a couple of weeks.
