YO GEORGIANS! :)

Wow, I actually had a few pages of posts to catch up on. Been a while since that happened.

Processing birds ... I can only do a few at a time because of my back so those of you that are interested, there is time. I am going to be doing some this week and then working on them next week, too. I'll be doing some ducks, as well. Carcar ... your duck is a very lucky boy. If i weren't for his "wig" I would have no idea he was yours ... and he would have been in line for processing. lol

Now to play catch-up ... welcome to the new folks, sorry for those that had losses, and y'all need to abuse Robo more.

Our vet called at 8 am this morning and told me to bring our Red Star hen in so we immediately took her. I figured she would wait to do the necropsy this week. She called me just a few minutes ago and told me what she found. Remember she isn't an Avian vet, her words. She said that her heart, lungs, kidneys and all looked normal but she was green inside around her abdomen and reproductive area. She found that the egg which showed on the x-ray looked normal but what was not normal was the 10 unformed eggs between the egg and vent. She said she new there was a name for it but couldn't think of what it was. On Google I put in "Necropsy of hen showed unformed eggs stretched uterus" and found this link http://hencam.com/henblog/2014/04/sweet-clementine/ This person had the same issue with their hen. It is called an "in-layer or internal layer". You can read about it on the link. I hope this doesn't happen to anymore of our hens. I am relieved to know that she didn't have anything that was contagious. Thank's to all that tried to help.

Ok, people. Y'all keep your eyes open for GAMjr's Christmas present. We are looking for a horse or pony. We're looking for something small... like 10 to 12 hands max. Preferably a paint. Kid friendly, broke to ride, under 10 years old. Here's a sample of what we're looking for. http://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-940541 I have sent these people 2 messages with no response so we're continuing the search. If you know of or hear of any little horse or pony for sale in your area, let us know. Thanks.
I can post what you are looking for in a few farm sites on this side of GA and SC. How far are you willing to go for a pony?

Glad you have an answer. Obviously there was no more you could do. And thank goodness not contagious.

OMG too funny on the wig!! Hahaha! Well, only problem there is I don't have a day off this week.. But like you said, there's time. I've actually decided to do my gold cockerel too and just keep the blue. The blue has MUCH better width down his back to tail like Daddy.. The gold is lacking, and I don't need two golds anyway..

There's no way I'll get them all done this week. And I have too much else going on this coming weekend so there will be plenty more to be processed the following week/weekend.

Whenever I see that Pekin I can't help but think of Bigwig from Watership down. He isn't a tough guy but his size and his wig get to me. lol
