YO GEORGIANS! :)

She's already done a couple of them.  But if you have any desire to come down and join the party, I'm sure we have enough to let you practice, too.
Oh LOOK!! My quoterator works again!! Robo your post fixed it!!

Anyways. I'm still here. And I still want to process too, though I've lost one of my eatin' Roos to whatever that was.. I put him back in with the littles though and his attitude is much improved since the two near-death experiences.

Funny how that works..

We have a sick hen. I saw that she was just standing around yesterday afternoon falling asleep. She is usually into everything. I thought she may have been egg bound so I let her soak in some warm water for a while. No chane this morning so I took her to the local vet. She told me up front that she was not an Avian vet but would try to help as best she could. She tested her for Coccidiosis and it came up negative but she said it may just be too early to tell. She does have a bacterial infection from bumblefoot so she is now on an antibiotic. I had no idea her feet had sores on them because she walked and ran as usual. Now I'm just hoping the meds work and that she doesn't have anything contagious.
I saw your updated post, so sorry for your hen! Just wanted to say, I ha a red star do this EXACT same thing over the summer. She just, fell ill. I separated her for fear of contagion, but she never got better or really much worse. It was like she just stopped thriving. Comb went pale/limp, she was dazed and stopped eating. I emptied her crop over and over (though there was not much TO empty).. I fed her yogurt.. I felt for egg, nothing. After two+ weeks I finally got fed up with her condition and had hubby wring her neck. She just, stopped living..? It was wild.

Thank you for the reply, I made some phone calls and was able to get some info. Not only is the necropsy free they are also paying for the FedEx shipping.

This was post # 22294 on this thread 3 weeks ago about necropsy. The Ga Poultry Lab site has contact info, thumper362 may be able to help with specifics. There are a number of labs around the state, part of Dept of Agriculture.

Hope this helps.

I just moved from Jasper County, SC to Effingham County, GA.

Welcome!!! I made the move from Charleston County SC to Coweta County, GA about a year ago and we are loving it

I lived in Charleston county off an on for the past several years. I miss friends, but I am so happy to be gone from the city.
I kept hearing that GA is much better than SC.
I sure hope so. :)

Ok, people. Y'all keep your eyes open for GAMjr's Christmas present. We are looking for a horse or pony. We're looking for something small... like 10 to 12 hands max. Preferably a paint. Kid friendly, broke to ride, under 10 years old. Here's a sample of what we're looking for. http://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-940541 I have sent these people 2 messages with no response so we're continuing the search. If you know of or hear of any little horse or pony for sale in your area, let us know. Thanks.
