YO GEORGIANS! :)

Well, I just candled my broody's eggs. I removed 10 of her 23 eggs. I knew some of the hens weren't getting visited by the rooster....The eggs that were not fertile came from the same hens. Anyway, that should leave 13, but I don't remember seeing that many under her.....must be missing some....a few were broken. Almost impossible for her to move without stepping on that many eggs! So, I cleaned up the nest and now she is sitting on up to 13 eggs. Some still had broken egg goo on them and that may end up killing the chick, but I am going to risk it. I am sad that one of the eggs that was broken was from my frizzled EE! Bummer. But, I know one that is still going is from my frizzled NN!

Well, I got home and did not have a blood bath waiting on me. :) Everyone's butts are dry and they've gone back to pecking each others' eyes instead of butts :lau Most of them have the multi-colored eyelids and that makes for lots of curious pecks. :/ But hey at least they're all okay.

Two weeks

Thanks :)

I just candled some EE eggs for weekend after next hatch.. Too early to call any out but I saw several clears. Wondering if it's because here at my coop the girls had room to get away from that ol pesky roo, lol. At their old place they were in more of a tractor so not as much room for flying/flapping away.

Either way, we shall see...

I told Cliff that I live up in the North GA mountains and I had talked to a local feedstore about doing a Chicken Event like Cliff is going to do at TS. This would be at a local feed store. We talked about having a buy/sell/trade event. My DH has shocked me and wants to make it a big event. He wants to have a crowing contest, egg toss game and stuff like that! I would like to have a few different brooders to look at, maybe a fodder system (homemade) and some educational flyers. Maybe sign up people for a monthly chicken meet-up group. Will let you know more later.

If we all go to Cliff's TS, we should wear our BYC nametags! Then we could all meet each other! That would be great fun!

TWO events in one year where I can leave GAM at home alone?! This is too good to be true.

Just got confirmation from The Conyers Backyard Poultry Club that they will be attending the event with quite a few birds to sell, trade and display including some guinea.
