YO GEORGIANS! :)

Oh ok thank you! Fewwww I was hoping for an OE and FCM. I hope my mallard is a hen.... I wanted to use her to brood some eggies :p I'll update you all on them later! And I'm what kind of duck would be the best mate for my mallard? To me she seems only around 1, maybe 2 pounds....

Oh and um will my chicks go broody?
I would ask the person you got them from if their hens when broody. They are more likely to be broody, if the parents did, even if they werent raised by one. I even had my hatchery Anconas and cochins go broody, anconas werent to serious about it though. I usually let them sit for 3-4 days before I give them eggs to make sure they are really broody, esp if its their first time.

Cindy,

I'm moving to the Brunswick area...found a place that is zoned for chickens, but need to get everything set up before DH can come out with them. He isn't sure we can actually move them because of the transport issues (he has a Chevy Cavalier...not big!!), but we have been through so much with these Ladies I really don't want to have to find other homes for them here. If I had to I could pair down some...but there are a number I simply can't part with!!

Are there any services that (safely, humanely) move critters like these? Do we just have to find a way to do it ourselves with a rental vehicle or something?? Is that totally nuts?

I'm originally from the pacific NW, so am used to green, and now am used to the (dry) heat here in Phoenix, but the heat + humidity combo is a new one!!

thanks for the warm welcome and I'm sure I'll have some stories to tell!

last night, YIPPEEEEE! I have pictures of two but I hear others under her I just haven't seen them. A partridge egg and a blue. Here we go...lots more fun tonight.

Ummm well the people I got my eggs from that I hatched moe and aqua into don't really LET them go broody if they are.... They incubate all their eggs.... And would a Cayuga or pekin or mandarin duck be a good mate for my mallard?
