Well...a few days ago I found a dead little wild bird in one of the chicken pens. They had been in the pen the day before but I just thought well the bird must have flew into something. Today however I saw our Red Star (Buffy) running around with a dead bird in her beak. All the others started running after her, one grabbed the bird from her then another got the bird and ran with it. It was rather gruesome. I got it from them and noticed it hadn't been dead long so one of them, possibly Buffy must have killed the bird. Guess that makes her Buffy the Bird killer. There has GOT to be a story behind this question.... do tell.
How "mini" are we talking!?What if I just got a New Brinsea MINI ECO 10 Egg Incubator to hatch in. It doesn't come with a turner and I won't need one if I just hatch. Are they any good?

It's entirely possible. Chickens will eat anything, including each other. If that bird lit close enough to one and she happened to grab it, I suppose it's possible but I'd lean more toward it was already dead and they just took advantage.

It could have flown into the fence and gotten picked up by the chickens just before you saw the event. I wouldn't concern myself about having zombie killer chickens or anything. But it's well known adult hens will peck to death babies that don't belong to them. Little ones can't be added to the adult pen until they are old enough to defend themselves or run fast enough to avoid injury.
Yeah, I hope you're right. I wouldn't mind them getting the little fat mouse that keeps running around the coops though. What age would be good to add the chicks to the coops with the others? I plan/hope to sell most of the chicks at the McD chicken swap but would like to know for future chicks. It could have flown into the fence and gotten picked up by the chickens just before you saw the event.
