YO GEORGIANS! :)

I'll get a pic of my Crele OEGB tomorrow- they are the absolute sweetest. The female comes to the door waiting for me to come in and makes soft almost purring sounds. The male has never made an aggressive move at all. I had these for about a month last Fall before giving them to a poultry friend. He recently decided to let them go so they came home again. I had regretted letting them go in the first place because they are so calm and beautiful! I'm currently being offered some OEGB Whites for some Buff Orp chicks due to hatch this week. Seriously thinking on it! I'd say not to base an entire decision on a few bad reps;-)

Won't make that mistake again! Just this one chick made me rethink what I'd read. The only "downside" I'd say there is to her is that she's very opinionated! When I first dropped the chicks in the brooder they all huddled together and sat there silent and terrified ... except Acorn who popped her little head up and started peeping loudly until I showed her where the food and water were!
I also think it's hilarious that she's literally the smallest chick in the bunch, yet she's second dominant only to the biggest chick! She'll take on any other chick that tries to eat out of her slot! She's not even mean about it. She just pops them on the beak, like 'no! Mine!' And goes back to eating.

OMG! Come and me save me! We decided to build another bathroom for the renters. We are taking out the closets that use to be in our office room (which now has two sets of trundle beds in it). The closets are a total of 10 feet of shelving! Do you know how much 'office' supplies you can store on that much room....from top to bottom of the walls!?!!? Ugh! Trying to move it all to the apartment so I can sort thru it tonight! Luckily, my whole family is coming at the end of the month.. Do you think they may want crates full of notebook paper, staplers, envelopes, spiral notebooks, markers......and on and on!?!?! I hope so!

BTW, I need to also get rid of all my craft supplies. $250 for the whole room! There has to be at least 18-20' high of scrapbook paper just to start! Got all sorts of card making tools, and all sorts of craft items. PM me if you are interested!

So, to keep this about chickens, too, I candled the 14 eggs I got from the lady in FL.. Only two had blood rings and got tossed! So that means 12 eggs need to fit in that tiny mini incubator designed for 10, but really only has room for 5 chicks! Ha! I think my new HovaBator will be here Thurs. If so, I will move those eggs into that for lockdown! Hurry up Hova Bator!

Can anyone tell me what temperature is to cool/cold for chicks 2-3 weeks old?

At hatch, the temp right below the light should be between 90-95 degrees for the first week, then decrease the temperature by 5 degrees each week. You'll be able to tell if the chicks are too cold since they'll all be huddled directly under the light, if too hot, they'll stay in the corners of their home. Happy chicks will be all over the brooder. They will need heat until they are fully feathered. That would be from 4 weeks to 6 weeks depending on how fast your chicks feather out and the temperature in the area they are going to be living in.

@flowerbh thanks for the info.I got the chicks in a pet transport cage keeping them in the house (in my bedroom). Its 80-82 in the house during the day.. I guess they need the heat lamp at night cause they do huddle up while sleeping the house heater kicks on and off thru the night..

I've turned off the light at night at that age. If they're huddling but not frantic/peeping, I don't consider that stressed. They always make little "trill" noises at night. It's cute. It's loud peeping that lets you know they're unhappy. Sounds like your house stays very warm though.
