YO GEORGIANS! :)

I have a rooster named Zaxby.

Awesome! I considered naming the roo Dick. But DH vetoed that real fast. Sometimes my juveinle sense of humor doesn't always get a laugh.

My neighbor thought it was hilarious.

Yesterday, while DH and I were working on the coop, 2 guineas that belong to someone down the road from us(about 1/4 mile) wandered onto our property. One of our dogs was out and she caught sight of them before I was able to distract her. She gave chase, despite me screaming at her to stop. Usually, if it's a person, she stops in her tracks the minute I raise my voice with one harsh NO. She nearly got one, but they were able to fly up into the pecan tree in our front pasture. What on earth do I do, if for some reason, they show up again and one of my pits gets a hold of them and injures/kills them? This is a new experience that I do not know how to navigate. I would feel like total crap obviously, but our property is not fenced. Our dogs roam freely without any issue. They mind the boundaries and do not go into neighbors yards, etc. I rule them with an iron fist. They know better.

IMO-if the bird is on your property, it's not your fault. My dogs won't touch my cats, but anyone else's on my property are fair game. My Deja just likes to chase them off the property and she stops at the property line.

Doesn't make it easier to hear if that does happen but I agree.

DH says the same thing. He ain't worried about it. I guess I'm the one who would feel bad for the birds. And, I hate conflict with neighbors. I like to mind my own business.

I can understand that. I'd feel bad as well, but my neighbors don't seem to care when their dogs were killing my girls.

I also avoid conflict whenever possible.

I remember that from a few days ago. That's what got me to thinking. In your case, it was squarely the dog owners fault. I guess I thought since they came to us, the lines could somehow be blurred depending on who's opinion it was.
