Welcome!!

So far I can attest to Marans, Australorps, Orpingtons, and Welsummers being great breeds to have in Georgia. Do you plan to free range or will they be enclosed in a run?

Good luck and prepare to be addicted.

AI or no AI.... Our birds are not moving in with us!

And we had to put my little buddy down yesterday. He had some infliction that took him from a happy healthy dog to nearly dead in about 4 days.

Frankie helping with laundry.

I'm so sorry, roboduck. What a cutie.

Here's another story. BYC member Johnskoi:

I want good layers for sure! I would love to have silver laced wyandotte , barred rock and Rhode Island Red and maybe silkies?
ninja is a silver laced polish, she is adorable. I had a sweet RiR that laid a big brown egg everyday and she was like a cat! I currently have blue and silver laced Wyandotte's. And I looooove silkies, i have 6 right now and two pairs when I lived with my parents.when I first started I had 3 black giants, a black sex link, and a RiR and I had fantastic egg production.

Handsome flock.

Speaking of egg production, anyone else's flocks stopped laying altogether? I think mine are either hiding their eggs or not laying at all. It's been about a month now. Oyster shells, cucumbers, melons every day, extra free choice feed, and they free range. IDK what the deal is. Maybe it's the heat.
I keep tellin' 'em, "Guys! You're the world record holders for egg production! Get to it!" But they just stare at me like I'm nuts or something. Silly birds.

Mine did that one time and they had stashed the eggs in an empty dog house in the woods. I had hit the motherboard..other than that no problems unless they are stressed or molting

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I have been out tromping through the woods with em every day trying to find these eggs. I'm done with that; too many spider webs!

I kept em cooped up back before it got too hot to see if I could get some eggs out of them, but no luck. I like letting them out into the shade. Guess I'll try again next week. Supposed to be cooler and rainy

.
Doghouse, huh? lol

PS: If you're going to hit your motherboard, make sure you where one of those anti-static bracelets so you don't get a nasty shock.
