YO GEORGIANS! :)

Seriously. I went out to check the birds at dark. I moved two hens to the Brahma Bungalow because they were left kind lonely after feathersaloft took half my birds. :p

Anywho, the intro was fairly low key as far as chickens go, although some of the younger brahma girls were giving the BR a hard time.

At dark, I found her up on the roost with Big Boy (sweetest Brahma roo ever, as you may have heard) and Mama Brahma (Big Boy's original old lady and the only one who roosts with him at night).. The BR had her head underneath Big Boy's neck and he had his freakin' WING stretched over her back as if she were a baby!! :lau :love

OMG! I have never! LOL

You should have gotten a pic, we chicken people get to see our babies in a whole different light, unlike the rest of the world who don't appreciate the chicken antics and they think they are dumb. I think they are pretty smart they got into our hearts.

I know. It was one of the ONLY times I didn't have my phone on me. I still can't get over it lol. I'll have to go out tonight and see if they do it again.

Y'all remember my broody hen? well, I put her in isolation for three days. When I put her back in the coop wednesday night after dark, that OTHER AM that I suspected was trying to go broody, was sitting in the nest instead of on the roost. I didn't feel the need to waste any time and went ahead and put her in the isolation booth. Last night, put her back with the others, and so far so good, no mamawannabes trying to sit on any eggs.

notice I said 'so far' LOL

I have one hen. That's it. But she lays me the most jumbo eggs I have ever seen. I keep thinking they are double yolkers but they are not!
I only have one as well. She is hands down the best layer I've had. Even after moving her into a pen full of eight Brahmas twice her size on Sunday afternoon, she STILL have me an egg yesterday! :clap

Do any of us Georgians keep Barred Rocks? I want some eggs

I bought a few Dominiques, but looks like I got 2 roos and 1 hen :(
I like rose combs :)

Beautiful! The one I got from you is really great, too! I am surprised that although she is the biggest hen I have, she lays a small medium egg. Is that typical of the Brahma? And, congrats on your hatch! I love, love. love Easter Eggers, but I have a hatch due Friday, I have 10 4-5 week olds in the garage and I have 9 that I ordered with Josh (but they won't be here until mid March), so I can't get anymore! I will be knowing for sure what sex my Lavender Ameraucanas are in the next few weeks. I know one is a male and one is a female, but the third one is tricky. One day I am convinced it is a female and then the next, a male! LOL I will be selling 5 from the ones in the garage. One is a frizzle, one a Naked Neck, one is a Swedish Flower, one a SF mix and one is an EE.

Flowerbh,
Hubby would flat out kill me, but the ones in the garage interest me.
I want another SF, and of course a Naked Neck and a frizzle. But if I were doing that, might as well get the group!

LOL, I truly have to see if I have a reason to head that way, while I could about justify the price of the birds, the gas in the Suburban is another matter.
If you have another interested, definitely take it, but if not, I can see where I end up next week. Maybe hubby needs a Dahlonega trip and we can make a detour.

And Carcar80, hubby is still trying to figure out why there are so many chicks.
SHHHH!

I actually did what I think is an accurate count last night, and I'm right at triple digits.

Had to fill my new house, didn't I?
Now to just get the pen finished, so I can get all chickens out of my yard, sidewalk and front porch.
