YO GEORGIANS! :)

Question: anyone within 20-30min of Rockmart/Cedartown expecting a hatch around the first week of December? If my lone Cochin egg hatches, that's the week the chick will arrive and it will be a full week until my BR hatch. Was just thinking maybe borrowing a chick or two for a week might help and then you could have them back.

Worth a shot anyway. :)

Awww, wish I was! I did put hubby on notice. Showed him the incubator I would like for Christmas, and even offered to put it on layaway for him to pickup.

Wasn't there someone on here with some Lavender Ams? I'm thinking I need a couple :)
What do you get with Lavender and black? Lavender and blue?
Will the black enhance the lavender, like it does with the lavender orps?

Have you seen the cabinet bator for sale in Cedartown on fb?!? It's a cabinet for $275!! It's an older model but still has turner/hatch tray. WHY couldn't a deal like that have been around when I was shopping??

I actually sold an older model cabinet back in April, cause it had been in my garage for 8 years or so. I'm thinking since I don't expect to have more than a few dozen at a time, that the Farm Innovators with fan and turner might be a good 'first' incubator for this time, at a price hubby won't freak at. Maybe add another after I hatch some chicks :)

The cabinet one I had, had a fan, but had to be manually turned (handle) twice a day. Not sure that would work with my schedule.

If you want to breed the Ameraucanas, you need to make sure to keep the colors separate. Any mixes will be considered Easter Eggers. The chicks have to breed true to be considered true Ameraucanas. The blue/black/splash Ameraucanas are the only ones that come in different colors. But, if you bred a white one to a black one, those babies would be EEs. I have some Lavender Ameraucanas and one blue one. I would not sell the Lavender/blue mix as an Ameraucana. It would be an EE. If you want to just mix them for your own fun, then go for it! You may want to visit the Ameraucana thread and read some of them.

Thank you. I just love blue and lavender. I have my 7 Lavender Orps (looking for a black roo to improve their color).

Where does the lavender am come from? Someone had to mix something to get it I would think.

I'm lucky that once everything is done, I will have the large runs, plus 4 smaller ones for trios or quads. But that will be a while.

EDIT: Since lavender is still a 'project' color, after reading about 20 pages of the Ameraucana thread, I've seen several posts suggesting crossing the black over the lavender to improve feathers.
