I turned an old unwanted chest of drawers into a small cozy coop. The only thing I bought was wire. Everything else was unwanted wood I got by asking around. The run has wheels on the other side and handles on the side by the coop so I can move it around the yard. Front side of the coop opens up for easy cleanin acess

Not mine :p

So I noticed this afternoon that one of my Brahma pullets had yuck in her eyes.. Picked her up and gave her a once-over...

WORST case of lice I think I've EVER seen..

I felt HORRIBLE. Like the worst chicken mom ever. But anyway, I treated everyone with Permethrin.. More thoroughly than I usually do (I usually only dust vents). Went out a bit ago to recheck everyone since it's been a couple of hours and only found dead/dried up mites, EXCEPT on the pullet that was the worst. I figured out why her eyes were dirty. She had several teensy tiny ones around her eyelids

.

So, I went back over her just a tad more, putting a little puff on the back of her head, under each wing and on her breast. I was very careful not to have her breathing it but my GOSH. She did fall asleep on her side in my lap with all the petting and attention :love Sweet baby..

Like I said, worst mom ever.

Went out again at 6 and looked over all of the bantams. Only a couple had maybe one or two (literally) visible but I treated everyone anyway.

So weird, why would the Brahmas have them so much worse? I mean the bantams are fuzzy-butts too.

Anywho, guess what I'll be out doing again this time next week...

Got a pic of one MFD girl's pretty speckles. Again, can't get enough of these DANG birds lol. @PapaChaz, how are yours looking? Seems like I asked you a bit ago but I'm not sure I did.

It is official. Old age has replaced youthful fearlessness. I think I have just cleaned gutters for the last time.
I work with someone who took a terrible spill cleaning his roof just after the new year. He's still unable to work a full schedule and has to be helped but is improving.. :( It's dangerous!

Oh been there done that. How about this gem. One Christmas I let my now X then hubby tie a rope around my waste toss it over a 2 story roof line and stand on the other side of the house holding the end in case I fell while hanging Christmas lights.

Oh dear! :lau

Mr Carcar's brother was working up on a roof years ago.. With a wheelbarrow. Came up over the peak and off he went.. Broke an ankle and BOTH wrists. Lived with Mama for a while after that, if you can use your imagination there.. :gig
