YO GEORGIANS! :)

Not mine

So I noticed this afternoon that one of my Brahma pullets had yuck in her eyes.. Picked her up and gave her a once-over...

WORST case of lice I think I've EVER seen..

I felt HORRIBLE. Like the worst chicken mom ever. But anyway, I treated everyone with Permethrin.. More thoroughly than I usually do (I usually only dust vents). Went out a bit ago to recheck everyone since it's been a couple of hours and only found dead/dried up mites, EXCEPT on the pullet that was the worst. I figured out why her eyes were dirty. She had several teensy tiny ones around her eyelids

.

So, I went back over her just a tad more, putting a little puff on the back of her head, under each wing and on her breast. I was very careful not to have her breathing it but my GOSH. She did fall asleep on her side in my lap with all the petting and attention

Sweet baby..

Like I said, worst mom ever.

Went out again at 6 and looked over all of the bantams. Only a couple had maybe one or two (literally) visible but I treated everyone anyway.

So weird, why would the Brahmas have them so much worse? I mean the bantams are fuzzy-butts too.

Anywho, guess what I'll be out doing again this time next week...

Got a pic of one MFD girl's pretty speckles. Again, can't get enough of these DANG birds lol. @PapaChaz , how are yours looking? Seems like I asked you a bit ago but I'm not sure I did.

got some wing feathers and a couple with tails sticking up. I'll get a pic here shortly and post up.

I guess I'm just a scaredy cat.. I always like to meet most people if I can, because I don't want them walking all over my place and leaving their germs everywhere if they have 'em.

Is that just me?

I am entirely jealous of his setup though.
Each breed has its own run, and all look so nice.

And definitely CHEAP!
I've been talking to him about eggs/chicks ... just haven't committed to anything yet since I keep thinking of Summerville as being much further than it really is. With those prices though it is well worth it.

Okay good. Because as much as I insist on seeing where my own chicks come from, I just don't want to do the same for others.. Oh well.
