YO GEORGIANS! :)

Well, we got the whole state here.  Depends on what part of "south" Georgia you're in.  I'm sure we have a close neighbor to you here.
Iam new here and new in chickens. We are finishing up our first coops and will be getting our first chickens in the morning. Would like to have connections for a bit of advise as we start our journey in to chicken land

You have us all at your beck and call. Some know more than others but all will try to help you out. I am no chicken expert myself.... I am an expert enabler. But I still offer my opinion freely.

Busy week running around buying chicks here. I think I'm done for a while... Added the 6 Lavender Ameraucanas and 4 Silkies on Sunday. Monday I picked up 7 CCL chicks from Justin Smithey Tuesday I picked up a SLW hen from Eric (she is laying for me) Thursday a friend dropped off 5 SLW and 5 GLW chicks from the feed store in Fairmount Then I went out to Tallapoosa to pick up a mixed batch. 4 Lavender Ams, 2 Black Ams, 1 Wheaten Am, 3 RIR, 1 Barred Rock, 2 black Sex Links, 4 Silkies. a Blue Marans and a Birchen Marans. WHEW! Today was spent putting up the new pen for the 19 birds I picked up last night. And look! The lavender pullets laid their first eggs! We got 2 of these today.
So jealous I set 6 CCL eggs and not one chick. I really did not expect any as at canceling most were not fertile and had blotchy shells. I left a couple to set a little longer but there was nothing. Where is your source located, I would love to pick up a couple.

Can't wait to see what colors you come up with. I tried to get one of each. There was one i REALLY wanted you to get but it was a little boy. I'll have to do some research and figure out what color he would have been.
So far all but the little one are great, that tiny baby only lasted a short time after getting home. My 5 Blue copper Marans are doing well with them. I had 5 out of 7 hatch out from eBay eggs.

With the sick chicks it is hit or miss. Sometimes they just need a second chance to thrive and sometimes you just have to provide them a happy environment to live the remainder of their life.

Yup I agree. I wonder about that little male Cochin you mentioned, it's always interesting to see how they turn out. I am going to stop using my Genesis incubator up. This year for the first time my humidity kept dropping. My Maran hatch turned out a good ratio but through hard effort and my choice to help out 4 shrink wrapped chicks. Luckily they all are doing well and are moving about normally.

Speaking of cochins, here's my little girl. Giving her some time to move around a bit since the weather hasn't cooperated for us. She's still a few weeks away from being able to rejoin the flock.

Also i believe the little boy was a silver laced cochin. Also keep in mind the cochins are coming from the same hatchery as last year that had LOTS of frizzled chicks.
