YO GEORGIANS! :)

Had a surprise this morning as I was checking chickens and gathering eggs. I have some free ranging EEs that roost in a hoop coop on the garden side of the lake. They turned 18 weeks yesterday and I changed them over to layer pellets. We give them fresh cold water every morning and check things over in the coop. We were about to leave the coop and something in the dust box caught my eye, two small pretty blue eggs! I opened the nest boxes that were closed off and got oyster shells in the coop. My BOs last year were 23 weeks when they started laying. This is my first flock of EEs, do they usually start this early?

Wow! That's early for most chickens! My EEs were 25-35 weeks old before I got eggs. Since EEs are mixes, you must have gotten a breed mix that lays early. Congrats!

This has been the year of the rooster for me for sure!!! My last purchase was the hatching eggs for the Smith/Segler Lavender AM eggs. Looks like most of those are roosters as well!! So I will be selling the extra roosters soon. I think I will have about 4 and still not sure if the black/lavender split is a rooster or not. If anyone is interested send me a private message. Asking $20 each or $30 for 2.

I also have 1 second import Isbar rooster from GFF left for $15 (he is black and silver) and have 4 first import Isbar roosters and they are all blue also $15.

Still have 2 Orust Roosters left also. They are worth about $140 each and I am selling them for $25 each.

Also have the bantam red barred cochin rooster (Luke) that is the brother to Carla's Yoda and just as sweet. $20.

I had 2 EE that started laying pretty early but the rest took their time. I have 2 of my 5 white leghorns that started laying and they were only 14 weeks. That is crazy early. They are all full sized and now have red floppy combs and are only 16 weeks. These 5 came from a hatchery and must be some type of hybrid.

I'm hoping to go to Auction next Saturday.. I have 3 male ducks, 2 male Polish and a few older chickens to sell. Was suppose to go this past weekend, but DH was too busy and I didn't want to have to deal with several crates of birds by myself! Will be so glad to reduce my food cost by selling these birds!
