YO GEORGIANS! :)

I love Nankins, very nice, well tempered and great mothers, and they are on the Guarded list. I let a friend talk me out of mine a while back and have regretted it ever since.

In my freezer, yes. Sorry.

Shaddap

There's that, too.

There's room at the farm for any of them, ducks or bantams. Just let me know.
Awesome, I'm gonna try and get the rest of his ducks, he doesn't need them they have no water to splash around in and mine well the temps have not left the pool side, lol, they go into the pen to eat, rest and then back out to the pool, wish I was a duck, lol

Dawsonville, but at the moment I'm having trouble with my Bramhas with crop problems and Predator problems, I don't it would be good at the moment to get anymore hens (even if they are so cute)
NP, I kinda like them, they are still in their house, and getting used to the surroundings and seeing the other chickens and vise versa. They actually have started acting like chickens, being curious and hanging out in the pen, instead of hiding.

In case I didn't update the ducks, they now have a kiddie (pink) pool to get in and out of when they want, they go into the pen and relax then go for a swim, go eat, rest,swim....repeat, and have to figure a move date to the real home

ok here are the new babies, they are not used to being handled and the rooster is really skittish, he was in a very small cage by himself God only knows how long.
Will they only go as a whole group or are you willing to separate them? My Black Star is still regrowing feathers from her trauma and hates being an outcast from the others. Her run and housing (I won't call it a coop...just a large dog kennel with a stick to roost on) is large enough to sleep 3 girls until she's ready to move back in, abut 1.5-2 weeks from now. My coop is plenty big for triple my 6 girls. I think two girls and my Black Star might make a nice group for an adjustment period to get them back to normal. I just hate to see anything or anyone suffer but I understand if you think the few might be too stressed to separate. I don't know anything about Cochin other than from watching Patara on Appalachia's Homestead on YT and they can be very sweet.

ok, I'm going to have to go and have a serious talk with the owner of the rest of the ducks, I went and got a kiddie pool and I have never seen ducks get so excited to see water, so needless to say they jumped in. I was worried about the Mallard flying away cause I didn't get the pool all the way in the pen, anyway they are not going far from the water.  I think he has 4 more Peking one looks like it maybe getting the curled tail feather.  I wish I could keep one, but I just don't feel I have the duck set up, years ago when I had my one Peking duck I had a pond so anyway we will see what happens, we maybe on a recon mission ,lol

Now someone here wanted Cochin Bantams, I have 7 hens and 1 roo that are from the same place that needs to be re-homed,  I free range and I was told these birds don't do well, so any takers?  going to get pics

I don't know one moves they all move it's like they are joined at the hip, like the ducks, they do not wander far and stay really close to each other. The ducks will go together cause of the way they stick to each other, and the chickens have just started acting like chickens. In the pen they couldn't touch grass, just dirt and couldn't really see the outside world. Cause you had to wade through knee deep weeds to get to them. Open the door and they all run to the edge to try to eat the grass

I understand. Betty, the Black Star, is my small girl now but was the leader of the pack with 4 roosters and 6 hens. When she got injured at 4 months old, they had no idea what to do. Her birthday sister took over leadership of the girls (roosters are gone now) but still comes to visit with Betty. The two have made a hole between the chicken wire and standard 2x4 fencing that I have to pull back together every night. The sisterhood is a tricky/funny thing. I've seen an older hen hug a younger as she was trying to lay the first egg. That love, I really think it is, is hard to break. A group of girls is quite special! Really wish I could take them all! My husband would have a fit and i'm not at a point to be able to take on double the care yet.

I have a runt named Lucy, and she is such a sweet girl, she got too close to a mom and babies and the mom really hurt her, I had her in the hospital and I'm really scared to put her back in the flock, I put her with some babies that have feathered out so hopefully this will be her new flock, but really worries me to let them out. I put the ducks in the day pen and that is usually where my babies go for the day to get some good yard time during the day until they get bigger. They all are in the hospital, it is not really set up for anything other than, treating and quarantining, so the bird can focus on getting better and not be bothered or worry about being bothered and it is high so I can get to them and treat them. Things will get back to normal as soon as the ducks can go play in a real pond. the new babies do have a nice set up, they can go to the bottom, go out side (when I open the door) they can stay up top or they can go into their cozy house and roost, so That will be their home, and my other pen with house has moms and babies in it, one set up top and one set on the bottom and some bigger birds up top with that mom, and I'm going to put Lucy and her bunch in there when they get bigger, Then I have another stand alone, little house that a banty mom and 8 babies live in, and then I have the big house, the 17'x20' I have a section of it partitioned off for me and supplies, all have a pen attached, but the big house haven't finished the pen for that one, so if need be I can keep everyone locked up and they can still have grass time.

Yesterday one of the renters saw we had a riding lawn mower. He asked me where the grass was! hahahhahah! Well, last fall when we threw out seed, first, the geese showed up. About 50 on their way south. Then, renters and weddings by the thousands ran and played and danced all over it! Then, the winter and the dry summer happened! So.....no grass. We will try again this fall.
