YO GEORGIANS! :)

Ugh. So frustrating! I have 40+ hens and only get 6-10 eggs a day! There have been a lot of changes for them (which can affect egg laying) but this is ridiculous!! My 7 female ducks gave me 5 eggs. (2 are still too young!). So, what's with the chickens?

So, all day DH was having us do work. Put the wood chips out, and then DD and DH fixed the gravel. Ate lunch, then DH wanted to weed eat. I didn't want to. Every time we started heading down to do it, it started to rain. 3 attempts and every time it would start raining. So I decided to start cleaning the kitchen. I saw DH and DD go down later to start weed eating. A few minutes later, DH calls and says they got in a yellow jacket nest! DD jumped in the lake. Got about 50 bites!!! DH got about 20! God tried every way he could to stop us! If I had gone down with them, I would have died! I am allergic to them!
wThe good lord was watching over you .

. Same thing is going on here if it wasnt for the new birds I would be get two eggs from 8 birds . Three of the birds I got in spring are laying so five eggs is all I am gathering ans three of the five are smalls .

Glad you didn't go with them and I hope they are ok, that is still a lot of stings

Just think when they finally get to cranking out eggs you'll be saying "What am I to do with all these eggs!!"

My DH took eggs in to a Mexican worker this am, and then called and said he miss understood him he wants hatching eggs, do you think my girls could give me a dozen eggs today, noooooo got 5, but they are now going to go to him for free cause he paid my DH for the eggs and he got to keep a dozen eating eggs, so I filled in with some eggs I put in the fridge last night, so hope fully they will hatch, I have heard that they will if they are not in the cool for several days.

but DH only got 2.50 for the eggs, so I think I might be ok, or I might be giving more eggs away DH's should not negotiate egg prices, 2.50 crazy.

I'm actually about to put some eggs in to hatch and I pulled some out of the fridge to add in because one of the hens I really wanted to hatch from stopped laying after I cleaned them all for eating last week.
Not the best plan, but I figure if it doesn't work nothing really lost.

I am in the process of my worst hatch yet. I learned a good lesson on this one. Gathered eggs for about 10 days but left them in the basement at 79 degrees. Put 10 in the hatch and 1 has made it to day 21 (which is pipping). I only had 2 develop - one stopped at about a week.

Lesson learned - keep the eggs cool! Previous hatches have been at 90% plus but those have been in the winter/early spring where I stored the eggs closer to 60 degrees. I'm pulling another batch now but keeping them in a breathable cooler at 58 to 62. hopefully that goes better.

@katstar , @ShadesofSable - when are you guys starting the incubation? My next batch is going in on Friday evening. Focus on Maran's and Olive eggers w/ a few BCM over White Leghorn crosses.
