In the Brooder
I'm sorry, it's a pain trying to dig in red clay, I can only imagine trying to dig in red clay and marble.

she's doing fine, thanks for asking! she's starting to show a little. We knew at 13 weeks that it's a boy. They let me do the gender reveal announcement and I had fun with it, LOL@PapaChaz how is your DD that has gone broody haven't heard anything in a while.
yes I'm getting eggs from all five of those welsummers now. I put 4 of those eggs under a broody MFD. Then my AM hen who was broody abandoned the eggs on day 19, so I put them under her too. I realized she might give up on the welsummer eggs if the AM eggs hatched, but once the four AM eggs hatched, I took the chicks away from her, she went back to sitting on the others. So hopefully I'll have some OE hatch out next week. I haven't tried to candle them yet....I know, right?? My only newbie that started laying is the Leghorn mixed SBEL! Not even my wellsummers are laying and I know they should be because Papa Chas has their 'sisters' and his are laying! Lazy freeloaders!![]()
Oh how wonderful, a boy, I know your ecstatic a little more testosterone to help combat all the estrogen.she's doing fine, thanks for asking! she's starting to show a little. We knew at 13 weeks that it's a boy. They let me do the gender reveal announcement and I had fun with it, LOL

I finally got 2 olive eggs after not getting any most of the summer, and what is a blue egg, I don't know, So I have very dark to light brown and white eggs, least some one is earning their keepI had to take my broody's eggs away. She's down to 3/9 good eggs. 2 went bad, and 4 got broken. For a silky she's a really bad mother! I gave her some golf balls and threw the eggs in the incubator, if they make it I'll give them back. Hopefully she'll be better at raising them then hatching. If they don't make it, I'll give her whatever makes it out of the 2 dozen that I just put down to incubate yesterday morning. Oh well, now I know to give eggs to my d'uccle cross instead.
Good luck! Hopefully you'll get some nice OEs from them. Yeah, mine aren't laying at all I don't know what's going on! Only my 8 original hens and one of the pullets have been laying, and two of the older hens have stopped because they went broody. So, really, I've only got 6 of 18 females laying right now.

How big was the light you used to candle her?
Oh, I bet it is her, they are smaller come to think of it, I've been getting one a day, of course except today, all the girls are on strike, they didn't get any treats today. How are those frizzle chicks I gave you? Are they laying yet? The little black one hatched from an olive egg, so that might be her?
