YO GEORGIANS! :)

ok nice, i dont travel alot because of physical issues, but im going to try and make it!
Hope you do. Maybe someone is close to you and you can car pool.

Also this past Wednesday I got 32 chicks from Murray McMurray hatchery. I got one rooster and six speckled Sussex hens. I got one rooster and six light Brahma hens. And my daughter got a phoenix rooster, seven Buttercup hens, one rooster and six Golden penciled hamburgs hens, and three game hens.

I'd like to see pic of that phoenix roo, that is one I'd like to have.
Paulding County is 61 miles away from me so I don't think I can make it even though I would love to.
Oh, car pool, I drive an hour it is so worth it, such a nice relaxing day.

Katsdar, how many chickens and what kinds do you have?

Oh I have bramaha, light and dark, RIR, Buff O's and some of them, and some of those and that too!!!! Its easier to say I have blue, olive, white and various shades of brown eggs, big ones and small ones too
Lordy, I've lost track of the total head count. We have chickens, ducks, geese, turkey, quail ... and a ton of hooves. Been at the birds for about 5 years, I guess. (I really can't remember.)
Don't forget Wilbur, oh I guess he falls into the hooves

good grief, did you take that poor girl a cushion to sit on after that?
Yeah, and an ice pack,

she is the skinnest scrawny leg horn hen, I got her from Joshfig,

What do you think? Roos or hens.
I don't know, the one on the right is so much heavier and bigger so it might be a roo but they are not showing any signs yet.

Katsdar, there are some nice you tube videos showing a lady hatching double yokers. One where only one chick makes it, one where both hatched. You should watch them! I put a double yoker in my incubator this time, but somehow it got dented by the turner right away and I had to eat it instead! LOL!

Welcome to all the newbies!!!

I have Chickenitis. I can't get enough chickens! I hatch all the time! I am licensed to sell chickens and eggs! I have many many types of chickens and some really fun mixes. My goal is having as many different colored eggs as I can! My chickens are all pets, they all have names and no two look alike (except maybe my Mottled Orpingtons and CcL) Right now I probably have close to 70 chickens, but a lot of those are just hatched chicks and will be sold.

BTW, I have 12 Marans eggs in the bator (with another 60+ other eggs) that are due to hatch on Sunday, March the 12th

You should all try to come to the swap! Great fun! Great people and the egg swap is fun and lets you get new genetics for your chickens!

Well, when I candled the eggs that I got from the Newnan Poultry show, I found that 3 of the 6 Swedish Flower eggs were not fertile and 1 of the 6 Chocolate Orpington eggs was not fertile. I was really disappointed. Called the lady (so glad I always get the names and phone numbers of people I buy and sell from!) and she agreed that I could pick up 4 SF and 2 CO eggs if I want. Well, that's all nice and good except that she lives in Griffin 110 miles from me here in the North GA mountains. Then, she agreed to send them to me for a $15 postage fee. That's acceptable. So, we all know what that means! ....................................Another hatching! I told her not to send them until next week so I could complete this hatch (about 75 eggs) and get the incubators cleaned out, etc. I guess I will start saving more of my eggs for hatching.....especially the frizzled ones. People seem to like them a lot.

So here are some more cute photos of my Frizzled Naked Neck and her babies. I put them outside for a couple of hours today!

two of my new Swedish Flowers.....I think I got all boys! Bummer!

You were smart to get the seller's contact info. It's nice that she's willing to work with you, and it sounds like she's being fair. I recently bought a dozen BBS orp eggs from a seller, and he included five extras which I thought was very generous; however, when I candled the eggs, five were infertile, so it was a wash.

I went to the Newnan show Friday afternoon, and there were some nice birds there and some great deals. I was surprised to see as many chocolate orps as I did. The breeder who I had bought my chocolates from was there selling three of his chocolate hens. Most chocolate orps tend to be two tone with the fluff feathers a somewhat lighter shade, but his chocolates were solid throughout. I would have snapped them up if they were of a different bloodline. I was surprised he was selling them, but he said he just had too many birds. I can relate to that...lol

BTW, your frizzed turken hen is awesome!
