YO GEORGIANS! :)

Y'all. Do you know what is terrible?

Having to go to work instead of staying home with chickens and talking about chickens and thinking about chickens.

That is all.

(back to stinky work)

Hahahahha! When I was new to chickens, every field of grass I would go by, I would think how much my chickens would love all that grass. If I went by some little shack house, I would think how I could turn that into another coop. When I saw an entertainment center in the 2nd hand shop, I would mentally turn it into a new brooder! I would lay awake at night and think of all the new chickens I needed! So, I understand where you are coming from!!!

Thanks Becky. I've seen that page before, and it is very helpful. My curiosity comes about because the sick chicks were bitten by the rat snake.

BTW, how did filming go yesterday?? Curious minds want to know!

Actually, the TV people got here last night and we did the filming today. I sure hope I don't come across like a chicken dork! LOL! I tried to just talk like I would to a friend, but we were jumping around so much, not sure how it will come out. The show is only 30 minutes and that counts commercials, so only about 15 minutes will be me and the coop and maybe Randy talking! (Oh no!) They are all having a great time here and love the property. We will be going out to eat tonight. Randy is keeping then laughing!

There were a few people here as sponsors. They sell 'Chick Flic' It's an anti-ammonia product. They demonstrated it to me and I was amazed at how well it works! Will have to start using that, especially this summer when the heat turns all that poop into ammonia smell. I had been using DE, but they had me put some DE in a cup with ammonia and Chick Flic in a cup with ammonia and you could still smell some of the ammonia with the DE and absolutely no smell with the Chick Flic.

OMG!!! I need these!!!!

My poor hens are looking rough! Need to get rid of a rooster too!

Yeah, my girls were getting scratched up too. :-( The pattern was an easy one to make. And I've been needing a use for that fabric. Lol.

If you end up without fertile eggs the boys are jealous   :gig

My husband said I should have used rooster fabric. :-D

Hello, Georgians.

I'm coming out of lurker status to welcome all the new folks and say you folks sure do make it hard to keep up.

Brucifer, sorry about your snake attack. I know there's something in our subtropical soil that sure attacks weak immune systems. Every time my husband gets bit by a fire ant, he gets cellulitis. Not me, but him. We figure there's something in the soil and because he's got diabetes, he's more susceptible. Hope your chicks can come through.

Sounds like y'all are having a great time. I'm sure the video show editors will take care of you. Randy may get his own spinoff show before it's over. lol!

Thanks. It looks like one of the pullets (Bea) is pulling through.

Lisa had me bury Nancy next to Big Boy. At this rate I'm going to have to dedicate a portion of our property as a pet cemetery.

Sounds like your husband may be allergic to the fire ants. Those are nasty little invaders. We used to have a lot of them here, but after chasing them down with soapy water for over 10 years, we don't have those mounds anymore.
