Anybody else live close to Cartersville Ga? Would like to find more people local to me that I could get to know, share info, maybe buy or swap with. Right now Im looking to buy some Black Copper Marans fertile eggs or chicks, maybe Sussex, Australorp, or Orpington, or possibly trade some of my 2 week old EE chicks for some. Thanks.

sbrown, I live between Dawsonville and Ellijay, right under Amicalola Falls State Park. I know a guy who has SS in Cleveland/Gainsville area. He also has EEs. A lady in Dahlonega has Marans and Orpingtons. I am hoping to hatch my own mixes next spring. I have lots of greens, blues, light pinkish, and all shades of brown egg layers. My roo is young, but he carries blue/green egg gene. Should make some fun colored egg layers. I would like to get a turquoise egg and some olive eggs next year. They have chicken meet-ups in Roswell and Canton if you are interested. I wish we could start a group a little closer! I would love to go and talk chickens!

Oh so cute! So you don't look like you've had the rain we have! Ugg, I have never seen my run such a yucky mucky mess! And, the "wet" smell....well, it isn't pleasant. Never had this trouble before! We have a roof and everything....just rain washing down the hill like never before!

It's been heavy raining off and on for days. We are lucky enough to be slightly sloped so everything runs off. I think I may yet invest in a cover of some sort for my run area.
