LOL. Everyone else...it was a pleasure to meet some more crazy chicken people like me! lol...Again, thank you for welcoming me the way ya'll did, I did good, not one panic attack! LOL! Ron hill...I walked off without my shavings...UGH, I was so mad at myself! I'll mssg you later!
You were a lot of fun, Missy, and Lisa told me that she enjoyed meeting and talking with you too. Hope we can get together again soon.

Everybody was nice and seemed to enjoy each other's company. That made a for a great picnic.

ok, now i need to know, what kind of fan, and all that jazz. just trying to get ready to keep my girls cool during this hellatious summer i think we have coming!

Can they get in to the shade or are they stuck in a house all day? in my opinion if inside then yes just a regular box fan, but if they can get under the house,in the tree line or out of the sun then in hot,hot summer I put frozen empty coke bottles in the waterers, keep the water cold and if not using frozen bottles change the water often or dump ice in it, Ice cold watermelon is a great treat, just don't let the waters run dry.

Crazy new girl question coming to y'all again (and I do appreciate all the advice y'all have given). Our girls have now been out in their coop now for the past 11 days and all 12 of them are right around 9-weeks old. They have now figured out to go in at night but I am concerned with these storms we are having. The girls keep going under the coop instead of inside. Am I being silly thinking that they could get sick getting so wet in this rain? I'm such a paranoid new chick mama.

I would make sure they go in, they can get sick if they stay cold or worse. They need to learn and you will have to pick them up, chase them out and put them in for a few nights and then they will go on their own. You may have a few hold outs but they will learn.

AND...your boudin was the bomb!
Glad you liked it. I've been using Emeril's boudin recipe for years, and I stick pretty much to it. I doubled the recipe and did cut back a little on the salt and the cayenne pepper, so it was slightly milder that I normally make it. If you want the recipe, just do a search using "emeril's boudin," and then click the link to his webpage. If you prefer to not make sausage links and want to make boudin balls instead, you can roll the boudin into golf-ball sized balls, dredge them in flour, and then fry them in a skillet or Dutch oven. They also freeze very well, if you want to prepare a large batch and fry them at a later date.

90% of their coop and run is shade, they have good ventalation, but it still is already getting stuffy in there, and I want to head any issues off. Im going to get some more waterers in place, and I got them a kiddie pool for the yard. And of course they are going to get frozen treats and ice.

The shed I'm converting into a coop has a window, so I'm installing one of these units. I found several of these on OfferUp for $10. I'm not looking to create a wind tunnel, just enough air circulation to compensate for still-air and/or hot days/nights.
