Tell me about it. I just got some last week. Out of 11 eggs 6 were fertile. 4 of those 6 may not be either and I just missed it. I sure couldn't miss it on the first 5 I looked at. I could see straight through them. So now I have 2 eggs that I paid $35 for. Really?! Yep.

We lost about 80 dollars on eggs. bites the big one. at least we found out our silkies have fertile eggs becky trying to get paints. i hope it turns out. guess chickster we live n learn alot.

Shipped eggs were terrible this year. They took a beating getting here. I've never seen so many detached or ruptured air sacs. I've spent a couple of hundred $ these last two months try to get eggs and brooders. I did get a 98% hatch last week from a shipment from TN. I wish you luck with your silkies. I never could hatch them. I had to buy chicks. Live & learn...you're exactly right.
 
I had a bad batch of eggs out of Fl. Only 2 out of 18. Wrote the lady a nice letter. She sent 20 more! Still only 6 of those 20 hatched. Many infertile or early deaths. Other vendors eggs did well in same hatches. So I figured something not right with her eggs. But got cute chicks.

2 batches of imported lemon english orpingtons
many clears& bloodrings
nothing hatched.

28 french Bresse eggs 4 hatched

most of the time we have a hatch rate between 80% & 100&
that's with a cheep foam incubator
so it's not the equipment it's the shipped eggs.

We have a hovabator which we like n a lg which aint so great. i think its got to do the quality of eggs. we gave away some of our blrw . which got told was no good funny thing is we hstched em here.
