YO GEORGIANS! :)

It's rainy & gloomy & I feel a cold coming on. Wish I could insert a poll here! Will anyone/everyone who incubates reply with what days they candle? I'm curious & trying to keep myself busy not thinking about these eggs.
Hahaha! I candle any time I want to enjoy the wonders of life!!! ok, if I have overstuffed my incubator and need to know which ones to move out to make room for good ones in the turner, I candle as early as 4-5 days. If I'm not in a hurry, I wait until day 7. Newbies may want to wait until day 10. (There is no guessing at that point). Google you tube has videos and photos of just about any day you want to see what they should look like.

I have been candling a lot my last two batches (also my first 2 batches) and I'm wondering if I need to chill out. Tonight is day 3 and I'm fighting taking a peek. I've got one incubator overloaded so I do need to look sooner than later so I can stop hand turning if there are blood rings or clears. I'm just interested in what people do.

I candle on days 7 & 14
Thanks for weighing in. I had been looking at alarming frequency but this hatch I'm trying my best to increase my hatch rate although 80% on shipped eggs this last time was pretty darn good especially considering I paid for 10, got 12 and so I TECHNICALLY got 100% on what I ordered. LOL

I am feverish and have a sore throat so I'm definitely waiting until this passes to check on them. It will probably be Day 7---Friday. I have also read that candling between days 11 and 14 can interrupt the embryo moving along the length axis of the egg into position. With each hatch I find myself relaxing in some areas and trying to step up my game in others. Mark helped me with spreadsheets for hatch data...I am no good at spreadsheets! But, I am good at dropping logos in!! :)

Got some of the new goat house stained. It was done off and on during the rain, so color may be off right now. We will be adding lattice on the front and side of the bottom porch. The window covers also need to be done. Then we will be adding some dirt in places and tidy up a bit.

The top part was the original tree house. We built the bottom part for the enclosed area. The goats have access to the tree house. They haven't discovered it yet.....too much rain. They have mainly stayed in the house. The door stays open all day and the goats will be closed up at night. Too many predators here in the mountains!
