I really like this breed. They are very docile and I think they are beautiful birds. I got luck and found 5 for sale so I jumped on them.

I just started using the lime last month. I'm going to try and put it down about once a month. So you wet it in then rake it or just throw it out?? Trying to figure out the best way to use it.
 
Yeah, Orloffs are hard to find, and they're beautiful birds.

As for lime, it takes awhile for it to take effect because it takes time to work into the soil and change the pH. It basically makes it less hospitable for fly eggs to hatch. Just casting it in your run a couple of times a year works fine.

Only a few times a year?! Guess that'll take a chore off my monthly coop cleaning. Thanks or the advise. So you just let the chicks walk on it once applied or do you wait to put them back in?
