YO GEORGIANS! :)

And I think all my K-C's are drakes. They've all got yellow feet now. Haven't grabbed them to make them scream yet.
Not sure it's about the leg color.....more about the quacking and the peeping. Boys just peep and girls quack. Katsdar, when they are a month old, their voices change. They will all peep like chicks until after a month old. Jack, when I was there, you had lots of girls. Wish I had gotten more!

Hey y'all, I'm new to the forums & chickens, have had them almost 4 months and have pet sat for others with them for a few years.

I live in Peach Co, but my chickens are at my dad's house in Kathleen since he has less wildlife. Of course, I logged on to see I had missed the timing completely (& have been messing with the coop or I'd head out). Just thought it'd be nice to touch base with GA people and hopefully make it to a meet up one day!

If you ever want to come over just let me know. There's not too many byc people in our area.

I found out I messed up the chicken. Dang. It really has come out right the last two times I cooked it. Sorry guys! I'm going to throw it all in my baker with some liquid and hope to recover it in some chicken sandwiches. I normally cook meat pretty well. Not sure what I did wrong.

Question: I had hatched 4 ducks 3 months ago. I assumed they were all boys because no one 'quacked'. Well, today I picked them all up one at a time to relocate them for a few hours and one doesn't make any noise at all. No peeps and no quacks! And, it doesn't have the little boy curl on it's tail! I think I have a mute female duck! Has anyone every heard of such a thing? Bruce, I just read where one of your chickens is blind, so I guess they can be mute, too, right?
Hi @Flowerbh , we sure missed you today! Our blind BO girl became that way after being bitten by that rat snake a few months ago. I lost almost all of the chicks in that brooder to various ailments, and she was left blind. None of my birds in other brooders were infected at all. Anyway, I know birds can hatch with a myriad of conditions, so it makes sense that hatching mute would be one of them.

My Jane , with cross beak, letting me hold her while she eats her mush food. (Horrible pic of me, so pay no mind)
Had fun today. Glad we also were able to stop for some fresh peaches and delicious peach ice cream on the way home. That sure helped us beat the heat! Enjoyed your company!

I have togo boxes. Well my house still looks well lived in but it is what it is. :-D Now time to make potato salad.
Potato salad was AWESOME, just like the last time! Thanks for making it!

Hope to see you at the next one. We drove through Peach County today to get to the picnic. We could have picked you up along the way!
I'm just now coming to Cartersville I feel like I am in an Atlanta vortex and we just escaped being swallowed up by a worm hole I will post when I get home :fl
I think Derrick might have felt like he was caught in a vortex and was going down the wormhole when he learned how many birds you were taking home. :lau

Well everyone, glad we were able to pull this get-together together at the last minute. We had a nice turnout, and there was plenty of leftover food to take home in to-go boxes for those who wanted any. @Mylied - Thank you for hosting us your home! I appreciate your hospitality. Your BBQ chicken had great flavor, and your potato salad is top notch. I wish I had stayed for the peach cobbler.

Many of us were able to swap/buy birds and hatching eggs, and there was lots of interesting conversation. Always something new to learn! The Nintendo Switch and Deluxe Mario8 game seemed to hold the interest of the kids. There was basically something there for everyone.

Thank you, Olivia, for getting Lisa and I those hatching eggs. They go into the incubator tomorrow morning, first thing.

Hope we can do another one of these in the Fall. Take care everyone!
