YO GEORGIANS! :)

I have a silky she has yet to go broody
Has she started laying? Mine went broody after the first few eggs were laid. The showgirl went broody after she laid one egg. I added more eggs under her. Then went broody again 4 weeks after hatching the first batch. My silky is currently molting (and now ill) so no broodiness from her since the first time.

I did the crop surgery. Cutting it open was the hardest part. Took forever to get all the grass and gook out. I cleaned her up with a lot of betadine before stitching her. Then gave her a bath and now she's resting on my lap. Hope I got it all out. Her crop feels a bit swollen from me messing with it so much. Here's hoping she recovers.
Poor baby doing surgery on your own pet calls for a strong heart and gentle hand.I hope she gets better soon.

If it wasn't my favorite silkie, I'd consider that.
I hope your girl pulls though. You're getting some great experience treating her.

These two photos are the before and after of two chickens I spatchcocked and smoked today:

Making my mouth water. What does the word spatchcock mean?
It means to butterfly. It's a method where you use kitchen shears and cut along both sides of the backbone to remove it. Then you make a small cut into the sternum; flip the bird over; and, then press down on the breastbone until you hear it pop or crunch. The result is a whole bird that is somewhat flat. The advantage of spatchcocking when smoking a chicken or turkey is that the meat will cook and smoke evenly.

Newbie here. We're in Chattanooga AND 10 mins south in Trenton, GA. Well, we actually live in Chatty but work and live part time in Trenton too. Alabama is close too so we claim it all ha
Welcome! I have a cousin who lives in Chattanooga. I love that city, and y'all have the best aquarium this side of the Mississippi. What kind of fowl do you raise?

ETA: I see that you have Buffs and English Lavender Orps. If you need to rehome the Lavenders, I'm your guy. lol Beautiful birds!

:welcome
