YO GEORGIANS! :)

Do any of you use an egg scale? I am thinking I would like one. Do I want a small digital
one or do I want one of those 'chicken' looking ones that take up a lot of counter space, but doesn't require batteries?

I use a digital gram scale. It's very small & I keep it in my incubating supply bin. I cut out one little egg holder from a foam egg carton & use it to keep blunt end up while weighing.

Why does it need to be up and down? I just want to know if what size my eggs are. What brand did you get? There is one that can also be used in the incubator for measuring humidity.

Tabsco, what type of rabbits do you raise?
I started with Silver Fox because they are pretty meaty, grow well and have a nice pelt but all 3 does have died. Honestly, I think I got bad stock from a "reputable" breeder. I just bought 2 New Zealand white does and will be breeding them the first of Sept. My best doe is a New Zealand/California/Flemish mix meat mutt. But her first litter was 8 and all lived, second was 11 and they are about 3 weeks old now. I got another buck that is similar to her but not related that I will be using in the future.
I really didn't want pink eyed white rabbits but they deal with the heat better than the Silver Fox do. Plus, I quickly realized that I don't have time to try and tan any pelts.

Tabasco Jack, are your Khaki Campbells laying yet? Mine goes to the lake every day and Im not sure if she is laying down there or if she isn't laying yet.
Not yet. They are about 18 weeks old. I'm planning on processing the drakes this weekend. And I've started mixing in a little layer pellets to the feed. They should start in a couple of weeks.

I use a digital kitchen scale from Walmarts. Measures in grams, kilograms, ounces and pounds. I think it will go up to over 5 pounds. I use it for eggs, quail eggs, quail, chicks, mushrooms, etc.

I was reading about meat rabbits. Said to get Champagne D'Argents. They can grow to 12 lbs in 2 months. Said 1 male and 3 does can produce over 90 kits per year. Do you know anything about these rabbits or where I should look for them? The other rabbit recommended were the New Zealand Whites.

Painting done except a couple of window frames. ..inside, the only thing left is a roof for the laying boxes and clean up. Then to get the porch cleaned up and fencing up!
Unfortunately I have a small drainage issue, I'm hoping the overhang for the porch will fix that...
