YO GEORGIANS! :)

Just put 34 eggs in lockdown. The two double yolkers are still going. I put those in my mini bator so that I can keep a close watch out and help if needed. They are all due Christmas Eve!

Renters came to bring their kids ‘santa’ presents ahead of time. As the lady was unloading her car she came running in yelling that there was something in her car!!!

Who were the eggs from? I may have had some Olive egger eggs there! But, in any case, they are beautiful! Most of my OE are on break right now. Miss getting those colors! But, come longer daylight hours, I have at least 5 OEs out there!

I have no idea, tbh. The pullets are grey, one with feathered feet and one without. They were my two favorites that hatched and I kept. I sold the other pullets, since technically I told myself I was only keeping cream legbars as my layers. But they were too pretty not to keep, plus green eggs are pretty cool.

NOT sure who you were asking, but we have Canadian geese who have babies here every year. As the years go by, we have more and more show up for a winter hand out! Sometimes up to 50! They are tame. My DH can call them and they all come swimming across the lake! He walks right thru them as he tosses them corn.
Only thing I worry about is that disease that can be brought in by water fowl. Too late in the day....have brain fog on what it's called. lol

Oh, I saw Sue's name in a few posts and got your post confused. Yes, I did mean your picture. That's cool that they know you all. I think it's bird flu that you can get from water fowl. I remember when it was going around they were saying be careful about waterfowl getting into your poultry's water source. I keep all mine cooped and covered thanks to predators, so I didn't pay too much attention.

Chicks are hatching early. Weren't due until tomorrow night! 5 out so far, and 13 pipping. The double yolkers are still going as far as I know. Keep your fingers crossed!

So, remember Poindexter from the old Barbie game?

Well, I had named my Frizzle Naked Neck Rooster after him because they both have red/orange hair! So meet his daughter! Same red/orange hair and frizzled! Isn't she adorable!?

Well, hatch is over. 28 or 34 hatched. Neither of the double yolkers hatched. I was sad. I opened the shell and found that in both, only one yolk developed. The inside of the egg was filled with watery yolk from the undeveloped chicks. I'm pretty sure the chicks drowned. One chick pipped and blood and yolk oozed out. Never had that happen before. It was like it tried to hatch too soon..It died. Then, two eggs from the same hen went all the way to internal pip and then stopped. Interesting that they were from the same hen. And then one other hatched but didn't make it. So, 28 cute little wiggle worms! Renter kids were so excited to see them hatch and then when I took them down in a big bowl so they could hold them they loved it!

I'm new to this site and will be raising my first hatchlings of quail probably this spring. Is anyone in the Marietta GA area who raise Quail?
