YO GEORGIANS! :)

People are selling mixed chicks for $5 each? I've paid that much for silkies, showgirls, and other common purebred chicks. Mixes $3 sounds right to me. But I might just be cheep (ha!).
I agree. This is my hobby and i LOVE all my little chickens and love to share them. I know when I started, I was always thankful to people who gave me a deal.....so, I like to give others a deal. One woman this week asked if I would take $20 for 7 chicks! Hahaha.....like that was just a dollar difference! I said sure! I'm not sure if she realized that it would have just been $21. Maybe she miscalculated and thought it was more. Anyway, I do deals....especially if they take a lot of chicks! Or, if they take lots of boys! I sold about 8 month old boys for $1.50 each to one of my regulars. He loves my chickens because they grow so big!!!

My chickens are happy! Made them a big pot of breakfast! Rice, oatmeal, grits, can of corn, raisins, added a few eggs (and the shells), and whatever else leftovers I had! Served warm!

I also sell my mixes for $3 but my projects for $5-7 because they are great broodies and folks around here don't usually have incubators most have the sex links and the Broodiness has been bred out. The silkies I sell for $10-15 for chicks $20 for 2.

My price will go down the more I have. I sold quite a few for $3 and only have about 10 left for mixes and projects. Out of those 5 of them are cochin.3 hens 2 roos. The other 5 are projects. And one Japanese bantum. Some I didn't sell because I will use them in my breeding project. I picked three to breed with my blue Silky this spring when they go broody. I have two hens sitting right now for mixes some may be Cochin won't know till they hatch.I have 5 new Silkie chicks coming up there looking good so far. The black chicks are pullets one with silver leakage the other looking great for show quality. Two out of.four earlier chicks are satin frizzle and splash silkie. The other more Cochin Silky feathering will sell for $3 bc they have 4 toes.

Sold a guy three dozen hatching eggs. He wanted them today, so we put the football games on hold and drove to town to meet him. I advised him to set them before 10 days for best results. The guy says, 'Oh, I don't have an incubator yet" What????

Lol. Hope he's planning on getting one soon. That's funny he got the eggs before the incubator.

I haven't ever sold any chicks, just started birds or grown ones I decided not to keep. I've been letting my showgirl and silkie raise the babies, so I feel bad taking them away. Plus it seems people like the started ones anyway, especially if you can tell if they are male or female.
