YO GEORGIANS! :)

I think the hard part is going to be my boss aka wife, she is just about tired of my daughter and I, and our chickens lol.. she has to do all the driving right now and we stuck using my old truck, I can’t get in our new truck yet, and her car is to crampy for me to ride in long.

How many chickens do you have and what breeds?

9 baby chics right now, 2 RIRs, 3 Lavender Orps, and 4 speckled Sussex. We have 4 Lavs but one was sick when we got them and didn’t make it. So far and they are all suppose to be pullets, they are about 3 weeks old maybe a few days older. I don’t have any yet that are bigger or growing faster so I think I might have all pullets.

Oh I didn’t know speckled sussex were a dual purpose bird. Makes sense why you’d want a rooster. That would be perfect to keep the meat and eggs coming!

I actually want to add some Turkens to my flock, but can’t find them without having to order them from somewhere. My husband found some in a Florida TSC but it was at the beginning of this virus and we didn’t want to risk bring poultry from another state. Now I wish we had but we have plenty of chickens right now.

Douglasville TSC had some last week.

I was actually there when they got the chicks in lol watched them put them in the brooders

Well with this knowledge lol my dad was over in Dothan, Al TSC
last week he said they had chicks, he was trying to find me some RIRs lol is that close lmao.

That’s a little under 2 hrs so doable. We just hatched 15 Olive Eggers from my flock and gave away 4, so I have 11 chicks I’m taking care of so I will probably have to hold off on getting some until these are older.

Last time I had a 75% hatch rate so I thought I was going to be left with maybe 5 after giving 4 to my husband’s aunt, but nope, all 15 hatched. Which is fine since I needed more olive egger hens for my flock.
