YO GEORGIANS! :)

Anybody else in Georgia having trouble with their chickens not drinking enough water???
Not here is Loganville. I have nipple waterers mounted,I have individual old juice containers with nipple waters that I use in my brooder in two other locations in the run (just merged some in to the flock) and on very hot days I put a big dog bowl of water in. On all counts my gals and young rooster in training all go back and forth all day from each water source.

While a pond is nice its not 100% necessary. We have 2 ducks amongst our flock of chickens and they are perfectly content with the little kid swimming pool and small mini-horse water trough-turned-duck-bath.

Okay I'm officially impatient. Instead of getting my silkies in the spring when the new coop is finished and all the orpigntons are ordered as well I wanna go ahead and get one or two. Anyone know a silliest breeder near the Jasper/Canton area? Preferably with chicks around the 1 week old mark?

Hmmm, not sure what the trouble with mine is then.... I put fresh water out yesterday around 1pm, but my 9 chickens have barely drank any of it! I even removed the ACV this time because I read it can sour the water in such high temps. They've been this way for the last few weeks.

I want to do a nipple watering system, but can't afford an expensive one. The one you have sounds like something I could do. How did you do yours???

For my brooder, play pen etc. I use an old well rinsed juice bottle. I ordered the nipples from Amazon and drilled per the instructions a hole in the hard cap. I drilled air holes around the sides near the bottom and hang it with wire. My day old chicks take right to it with no problem and boy is it better than hoping they don't drown, poop or scratch up shavings in to it. The Older gals will even hang upside down from their perch to drink from the longer one I have set up that is fed from a 5 gallon bucket on the outside of the run; which is great because I don't have to haul a hose into their pace and freak them out.

Notice the silver laced to the left too lazy to get down for a drink, she just reached underneath for a sip without loosing her spot.

Hi folks! I'm in SC but right by savannah. I was lurking around this forum to see what was going on in GA. When I saw these watering systems, I had to say hi. I love them! I just ordered nipples and am gathering other supplies. Can't wait to give it a try when my new babies arrive!

Would any one like to trade i have a french black copper maran 4-5 weeks old very pretty but i need a hen im in the murrayville gainesville cleremont area of ga
400

I did the same type of set up. The nipples from amazon ran about $12 FOR 25 nipples. I shared with a friend. My husband fixed the five gallon bucket with a toilet thingy in it and connected water to it. It automatically fills up as needed. No need to fill buckets or clean poopy waterers. You can google instuctions. rs. Love it
