YO GEORGIANS! :)

Ouch! I hate when they do that. I have a hen that thinks she has to do that when I get close to the feed bowl. Hope it heals quick.
I hope everyone had a great Christmas holiday. Santa sure brought us some cold weather!
I have been battling a respiratory illness in my flock. The pen with 8 hens and a roo are sick, well all except 2 hens for the moment. 2 are really bad and I have them in the house so I can force feed and water them. This is day 7 of antibiotics and vitamins and electrolytes. Everyone seems to be improving except one gal in the house with me-she can't see well. She actually has started trying to drink on her own but seems as though she can't focus- she misses the bowl and dunks her head too far in the water. I hope she recovers but only time will tell. I hope no one ever has to go through this. It is an awful thing to watch and you feel so helpless.
Today should be the last day of antibiotics but I don't know if they are well enough to stop. Should I switch to another and give it for 5-7 days or just stop this one and see if they keep improving? I'm giving the terramycin now . Any suggestions welcome.

Hollyyy MOLY it's gorgeous here today!! :D

We are all outside working and playing so the girls are enjoying free-ranging. I got all the old yucky hay (from all the rain last week) out of their run while they're out and put down new so that's a load off my mind. :)

Got a couple shots of my silly "Olive" being a pest today. She's the only one I have from my original flock an therefore the only one I raised from a chick. She is a HOT mess- I can definitely tell a difference from the ones I got as pullets.

Olive " helping".. I had literally turned my back for 30 seconds lol

Then she got into the workshop.. Three times.. Finally had to shut it.. So THEN she went over to the barn side and got into an old washtub on the shelf. Also not hers. She made such a fuss scratching the metal for several minutes, I finally shoved some hay in there with her. This pleased her.

I freakin love this girl, lol.

Well We no longer have rooster issues. My mutt silkie rooster was jumping my little crippled silkie hen and another that he and hubbies Welsummer rooster had worn to a frazzle. First went the mutt silkie rooster, then after a fatal attack on two hens went the Welsummer rooster. I went from 16 in total to 11 in the coop. The remaining 11 have sorted through the pecking order and the two original EE have taken their place once again as hen 1 and hen 2. My white bearded silkie that had taken to hiding in a corner of the coop has again joined the flock during the day out in the fresh air and enjoying the kale and cabbage ball treats. Oh and hubby no longer hears crowing at 4:30am beneath our bedroom window so he is also very happy.

The chop block, sorry I know that's blunt. Believe me it is not done lightly, but it had to be done. Such aggressiveness and destructive behavior dose not need to be handed to someone else to deal with.
