I tend to build by the seat of my pants and imagination. I incorporate the necessities, but build from my thoughts always tweaking etc. I've spent a tone of time researching various pics of storybook houses on the web. I know my basic needs from the structure, as I am out and see just the right thing to add (and it's on sale) I grab it. This is a pic of the first coop I built which taught me a lot. As this new one takes shape I'll post pics.

I love it, too? Just can't figure out how you keep flowers there? Everything green in my yard is gone! Grass, flowers, shrubs! And, I have 25 acres for them to play on! What's the secret?

My hens have not laid in three months! I am waiting for warmer weather to get some regular size eggs! We are only getting little eggs from our Silkies and Mille Fleur d'Uccles.

I have been trying to get them back laying again but have not resorted to a light in coop. Figure it is nature's way of letting their bodies store up energy

Oohlala that is so absolutely darling! I have the imagination but my neuromuscular disease stops me from being productive, it sucks for me :( I have the determination because I tried to build my own chicken tractor....got the a frame up and I had to stop bec I could no longer move my arms! My DH is NOT a handyman....the tractor frame got torn apart by my puppy.

So I'm convinced the chickens are trying to make me crazy (er). My light brahma never really makes noise except right after she lays. So today she's out in the yard singing the egg song, extra loudly by the way, so I go out to get it. No egg in her favorite box. No egg in the hay barn where she goes when one of the other girls are in her box. So I start searching the yard. No dice. Really? I go to get their nightly food and guess what's in my feed bag? Yeah. A pinky brown Brahma egg. Then she had the nerve to give me the stink eye when I got it. Psycho Brahma. >:/

She sounds like a rebel like my Olive. I once came home to find her wrapped up in an empty shavings bag, which had then fallen of a high shelf with her. Thank goodness I found her!! AND her egg, of course. LOL

I have a hen who loves cars! She gets in any car with a door or window that's left open. One of my neighbors who came to visit and left his window down found an egg in his backseat when he got home. The UPS truck has had to return to our home after finding her in his truck!
